About Elizabeth Kozlowski / Dr. Liz
I’ve always felt that my destiny was intertwined with health care. Born on my father’s manipulation table at home while Channel 2 News captured a story on home births at the Chicago Maternity Center, I was immersed in medicine from the start. My mother, a neonatal ICU nurse who later became a midwife, and my father, a medical student aspiring to be an Osteopathic family doctor, were my early influences. Medicine was a constant in my upbringing. I was fortunate to absorb knowledge from both parents: my mother, a midwife and proponent of natural medicine, and my father, who embodied the essence of a FAMILY doctor. My childhood was filled with attending home births, accompanying my father during ER nights, and assisting in his office, shaping my understanding of true family medicine.
I graduated in the top 10% of my class from Haslett High School. I earned a Mathematics degree and participated in basketball and softball at Albion College. I attended medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine/Midwestern University and completed my family medicine residency as chief resident at McLaren Hospital. I had the privilege of learning from my father, an exemplary family doctor. My career began with a six-month tenure working alongside Dr. Michael Maser in his OB/GYN practice. Subsequently, I joined McLaren’s family medicine residency clinic, where I saw patients, trained residents, and instructed medical students. As an associate professor at Michigan State University’s Osteopathic Medical School, I taught physical examination skills. My passion for teaching led me to become the director of the family medicine residency program at McLaren Hospital in Lansing.
For the past 15 years, I have been associated with Capital Internal Medicine Associates, caring for families and educating students in my office. It has been an honor to work with and learn from Dr. Greg Messenger in his dermatology practice. At the start of my career, I managed his acne clinic for five years, and I have recently resumed working with him a few days each month. These opportunities have enhanced my expertise in diagnosing and treating dermatological conditions such as acne, skin cancers, and rashes.
My family history of addiction, coupled with my personal struggles, propelled me on a path of self-discovery and in-depth study of addiction medicine. I often share with my patients that my knowledge is well-researched and extensive. Having achieved board certification in addiction medicine, I am committed to assisting those who are fighting addiction.
I take great pleasure in performing Osteopathic manipulation and eagerly anticipate the opportunity (and time) to apply my skills with my patients. Additionally, I am drawn to alternative medicine and am dedicated to exploring various healing techniques to enhance the care I provide to my patients.
I am the mother of three children: Ambrose, Nandi, and Naomi. In my free time, I indulge in my passion for gardening and run a non-profit medical mission in Jamaica.

At Kozmic Care, our passion is to enhance the well-being of our patients. We commit to listening to you, caring for you, and supporting your health journey. Direct Primary Care isn’t a novel concept; it’s the traditional approach that physicians followed before the advent of insurance companies, large hospital organizations, and the commercialization of healthcare. It’s a model designed to better your health and, by extension, enrich your life..
